On 20th of January 2019, WE AfriHug team welcomed in Greece Dr Esther Kagure Munyiri, Chairman and Lecturer and Dr Rahab Mugambi, Lecturer of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Kenyatta University, located in Nairobi in Kenya. The Staff visited Greece in order to attend a Training week at the University of Piraeus. In the framework of the partnership that the project created with the University of Piraeus in Greece, that is the second mobility which took place during 20th – 28th of January 2019.
On Tuesday, 22.01.2019, the University of Piraeus invited Marilena Maragkou & Konstantinos Maragkos to be present during the welcome meeting where representatives from Libya and Kenya were also presenting their Intstitutions. A strong focus was given for the topic of partnerships, exchange and academic mobility.
The contribution of Erasmus Mundus Association has been significant, since the collaboration among Konstantinos Maragkos, CR for Greece, Lina W. Mkoji, Eastern Africa coordinator, WE AfriHug Team, the Universities and the representatives of the International Relations Office of the two Universities achieved the partnership and as a result the second mobility happened. More mobilities among students, academic staff and Top management of the Universities will happen during the next months.
WE AfriHug team also arranged a meeting for the staff from Kenya at the university of West Attica in order to discuss possible future collaborations and partnerships. They met the Head of the International Office, Dr. Nikas and Dr. Katsoni from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
WE AfriHug team was present in all the meetings and visits of the Academic Staff from Kenya in order to facilitate communication and support them. We are looking forward to receive students from Kenya and Uganda soon.
