Climbing Kilimanjaro

WE AfriHug team has arrived in Tanzania, Africa. The volunteers have been for 5 days in Dar es Salaam, where their first training seminar took place. During the first training day, the team interacted with almost 40 Board members of the University of Dar es Salaam, presenting Erasmus+ and raising the awareness on mobility opportunities between European and African Universities. During  the second training day “Erasmus+: Open your mind, Change your life” the team interacted with more than 250 University students & Academic Staff through dynamic and interactive presentations but also through a “live library”, the WE AfriHug team raised the awareness on Erasmus+ opportunities. The audience had the chance to get informed in detail about the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, the procedures and applications and also tips have been given to the students who would like to get involved in the future.

Now, the 5th member, Dimitris Christodoulou, who comes from Cyprus has joined the team in Tanzania and all together are getting ready for their first sports milestone, to climb to the top of Africa, mount Kilimanjaro for 6 days, from 06/01/2018 until 11/01/2018. The journey will continue to Kenya, Uganda, Togo, Ghana and Western Sahara, in order to continue empowering the youth in local communities through education, to take action, participate in sports milestones and conduct an academic research.

Scalata del Kilimanjaro

Il team di WE AfriHug è arrivato in Tanzania, in Africa. I volontari sono stati per 5 giorni a Dar es Salaam, dove ha avuto luogo il loro primo seminario di formazione. Durante la prima giornata, il team ha interagito con quasi 40 membri del consiglio di amministrazione dell’Università di Dar es Salaam, presentando Erasmus+ e sensibilizzando sulle opportunità di mobilità tra università europee e africane. Durante la seconda giornata di formazione “Erasmus+: Open your mind, Change your life” il team ha interagito con oltre 250 studenti universitari e personale accademico attraverso presentazioni dinamiche e interattive, ma anche attraverso una “live library”, il team di WE AfriHug ha sensibilizzato circa le opportunità del programma Erasmus+. Il pubblico ha avuto la possibilità di essere informato dettagliatamente sui Master Erasmus Mundus, le procedure e le applicazioni e sono stati forniti anche suggerimenti agli studenti che vorrebbero essere coinvolti in futuro.

Il quinto membro, Dimitris Christodoulou,da Cipro, si è unito al team in Tanzania e tutti insieme si stanno preparando per il loro primo traguardo sportivo, per scalare la cima dell’Africa, il monte Kilimanjaro per 6 giorni, dal 06/01/2018 fino all’11/1/2018.

Il viaggio continuerà in Kenya, Uganda, Togo, Ghana e Sahara Occidentale, per continuare a responsabilizzare i giovani nelle comunità locali attraverso l’educazione, per agire, partecipare a traguardi sportivi e condurre una ricerca accademica.

Ανεβαίνοντας το Κιλιμάντζαρο

Η ομάδα του WE AfriHug έφτασε στην Τανζανία, στην Αφρική. Οι εθελοντές  βρίσκονταν για 5 μέρες στο Ντα ρε Σαλαάμ, όπου το πρώτο σεμινάριο επιμόρφωσης έλαβε χώρα. Κατά της διάρκεια της πρώτης ημέρας, η ομάδα ήρθε σε επαφή με περίπου 40 μέλη του Πανεπιστημίου του Ντα ρε Σαλαάμ, παρουσιάζοντας το πρόγραμμα Erasmus+ και ενημερώνοντας για τις ευκαιρίες κινητικότητας μεταξύ των Ευρωπαϊκών και των Αφρικανικών Πανεπιστημίων. Κατά τη διάρκεια της δεύτερης μέρας του σεμιναρίου ‘’Erasmus+: Open your mind, Change your life’, η ομάδα ήρθε σε επαφή με περισσότερους από 250 φοιτητές του Πανεπιστημίου και ακαδημαϊκό προσωπικό μέσω δυναμικών παρουσιάσεων άλλα και μέσα από τη δραστηριότητα ‘ζωντανή βιβλιοθήκη’, η ομάδα του WE AfriHug ενημέρωσε σχετικά με την ευρωπαϊκές ευκαιρίες κινητικότητας. Το κοινό είχε την ευκαιρία να ενημερωθεί λεπτομερώς για το Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, τις διαδικασίες, τις αιτήσεις αλλά και πρακτικές συμβουλές που δόθηκαν στους φοιτητές που θα ήθελαν στο μέλλον να συμμετέχουν ενεργά στο μέλλον σε αυτό το πρόγραμμα.

Από την άλλη μεριά, ο Δημήτρης Χριστοδούλου, που προέρχεται από την Κύπρο, συνάντησε την υπόλοιπη ομάδα στην Τανζανία και όλοι μαζί είναι έτοιμοι για την πρώτη τους αθλητική δοκιμασία, η οποία δεν είναι άλλη από την ανάβαση στην κορυφή της Αφρικής, στο όρος Κιλιμάντζαρο, η οποία θα διαρκέσει 6 μέρες, από τις 6/01/2018 μέχρι τις 11/1/2018. Το ταξίδι θα συνεχίσει στην Κένυα, στην Ουγκάντα, στο Τόγκο, στη Γκάνα και στη Δυτική Σαχάρα, με σκοπό να συνεχίσουν να ενδυναμώνουν την νεολαία στις τοπικές κοινωνίες μέσω της εκπαίδευσης, να λάβουν δράση, να συμμετέχουν σε αθλητικές δοκιμασίες και να συνθέσουν μία ακαδημαϊκή έρευνα.
